What to check before billing

  • Bill only visits of 60 minutes or more; document the date, time/duration, and nature of each visit.
  • Verify RI Medicaid eligibility on each date of service.
  • Enroll via the RI Medicaid Healthcare Portal with NPI taxonomy 374J00000X and RICB certification; complete Trading Partner enrollment for electronic claims.
  • For In-Plan managed care members, submit to the member's MCO; an MCO may require a modifier on the CPT/HCPCS codes.
  • The per-pregnancy maximum is $1,500 (3 prenatal + 1 labor/delivery + 3 postnatal); unused prenatal/L&D visits may be billed as postnatal visits up to 7 postnatal total.
  • No reimbursement for home births/deliveries. For members under age 21, additional medically necessary visits may be requested via prior authorization.
