Burnout

Burnout is a stress response that can show up as exhaustion, dread, numbness, cynicism, or feeling less able to recover. In doula work, it can build when emotional labor, on-call time, hard births, and administrative pressure outpace support.

Why it matters

Naming burnout early can help a doula choose rest, peer support, supervision, therapy, backup coverage, or a smaller client load before the work becomes unsustainable.
